Rising majestically over the bustling town of Demomire, the Eastern Sentinels (or “Les Sentinelles de l’Est” in French) form an awe-inspiring skyline that adds to the picturesque charm of this eclectic settlement. The Eastern Sentinels, named for their sentinel-like presence, stand as timeless guardians over the town and the breathtaking Mystwood Valley. Dominated by natural rock formations and dense forestation, the Eastern Sentinels offer stunning vistas and plenty of opportunities for exploration and adventure.
Halfway up the Eastern Sentinels stands the imposing Blackwood Manor, an architectural marvel that seems to blend with the mountain’s rugged terrain. The Manor, with its intricate Edwardian, Gothic and Victorian styles, looks over Demomire and the Mystwood Valley from its elevated perch. Its grand presence on the mountain adds an element of mystery and intrigue to the Sentinels. The Manor’s grounds, with their overgrown gardens and private cemetery, mirror the wild beauty of the Sentinels, while its ever-changing construction reflects the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the mountains themselves.
The Eastern Sentinels are home to two significant natural rock formations: The Red Crest and Mourners Mount.
The Red Crest rises dramatically from the rugged terrain, a sight to behold especially at dawn when the first light of day paints the crest in a brilliant, fiery hue. The Red Crest’s unique color and striking silhouette make it a favorite among local photographers and painters.
Located further into the mountain range is Mourner’s Mount, a formation that, despite its somber name, is a beacon of natural beauty. Known for its steep slopes and jagged silhouette, Mourner’s Mount is a favorite among seasoned climbers and nature enthusiasts. The view from the summit, particularly at dusk, is a sight that remains etched in the memory of all who have witnessed it.
The Eastern Sentinels offer a path that runs all the way to, Incantatus Falls. The trail is an adventurous journey through the dense forestation, with the sounds of nature as your constant companion. The path is known for its diverse flora and fauna and spectacular views of Mystwood Valley.
Incantatus Falls, a spectacular sight, cascades down from a towering height of 1222 meters. It’s an ideal spot for picnicking and even meditating. The waterfall is the source of the River Moreau, a crucial water body that shapes the landscape of the Mystwood Valley. The serene ambiance and the hypnotic rhythm of the falling water make the trek to the falls worth every step.
